Ichendorf Milano Andalusia Collection

Mario Trimarchi designs to understand the poetic soul of objects. He worked for Olivetti Design Studio, directed the Master’s degree in Design at Domus Academy, and then founded FRAGILE, a corporate identity studio. He won the Compasso d’Oro with the Ossidiana coffee maker for Alessi. He draws day and night.

Ichendorf Milano's Andalusia collection, designed by Mario Trimarchi, is a testament to the harmonious blend of traditional craftsmanship and contemporary design. This series of handcrafted glassware draws inspiration from the vibrant colors and warm sunlight of Spain's Andalusia region. 

Design and Inspiration:

The collection features vertical glass elements that transition through a gradient of colors—green, grey, pink, and yellow—symbolizing the ascent towards the Andalusian sun. This design choice reflects the region's lively hues and captures the essence of its sunlit landscapes. 

Craftsmanship:

Each piece in the Andalusia collection is meticulously handcrafted from borosilicate glass using flame-working techniques. This process ensures durability while allowing for the delicate incorporation of the collection's signature color gradients. 

Notable Pieces:

• Wine Stemmed Glass: Standing at 17 cm with a diameter of 7 cm, this glass embodies the collection's aesthetic with its elegant form and color transitions. 

• Jug: Featuring the characteristic multicolored handle, the jug combines functionality with artistic design, making it a centerpiece on any table.

• Flute and Water Stemmed Glasses: These pieces continue the theme of vertical color gradients, adding a touch of Andalusian warmth to various dining settings.

Collection Expansion:

In 2023, the Andalusia collection expanded to include seven new items: a coffee cup, mug, tea spoons, serving cutlery, and three tealights. These additions maintain the collection's distinctive design elements, further enriching its offerings. 

Care Instructions:

To preserve the integrity of these handcrafted items, it is recommended to wash them at low temperatures, around 40°C. While they are dishwasher safe, gentle handling will help maintain their delicate features over time.

Through the Andalusia collection, Ichendorf Milano and Mario Trimarchi have created a series that not only serves functional purposes but also brings the vibrant spirit of Andalusia into everyday life, celebrating the fusion of art and utility.
